Originally created in 1933, the Vashon Maury Island Community council dissolved in 2013 or shortly thereafter because of disagreements about record-keeping and the organization’s connection to King County. Threats of lawsuits caused the untimely termination of a valuable community asset. Islanders are now trying to bring back a form of somewhat changed non-profit group. For now, while the Covid-19 virus keeps us apart, VMICC will be meeting online. While this will leave some members of our community outside the meetings, we will be doing what we can to include everyone as soon as possible. Please communicate with folks you know who can’t be online and let them know we’re concerned about them and want to include them in whatever way we can.
