Hello, Council members and visitors!

Our September membership meeting is coming up on Monday, September 19, at 7:00 pm on Zoom. Please scroll down for the Zoom link, and phone number for calling into the meeting.

Please join us for the September 19 Community Council meeting.
The agenda is below. Here are some highlights:

Dissolution of the Old Community Council. We are now ready to dissolve the VMICC. The board has met and approved a resolution to dissolve the Vashon-Maury Island Community Council. It is now time for the membership to discuss and and vote on it.  If the dissolution vote takes place, we will also have a vote on the plan of dissolution. Don’t worry.  The new Vashon-Maury Community Council, organized as a 501(c) 4 organization,  is up and running and will take over, with the same board members. We have been planning for this since December of last year.

King County Sheriff’s Department, Captain Heather Volpe. Captain Volpe will provide an update on crime on our Island, and answer your questions. Please come with any issues you would like to raise for the Sheriff’s Department. From our past meetings, we are hoping for an update on better signage on ferry hill to prevent head-on accidents in the uphill lane. Captain Volpe  will also be providing information on firearm laws related to Vashon, in time for the upcoming hunting season.

Susan McCabe  will present on a septic system/well safety workshop she is organizing for King County and the Groundwater Protection Committee.

If you have an issue you would like covered, or would like to speak at the September or future meetings, please contact dianeemerson@yahoo.com. Or just come and speak up during the Open Discussion part of the agenda.

If you are interested in the process of motions and amendments, and keeping meetings flowing smoothly, please see the Democratic Rules of Order, which is what we use to guide our meetings: https://www.democraticrules.com/
